If you think being a Lakers fan is bad, try being a Philadelphia 76ers fan.
As reported by Bleacher Report, the 76ers reached a new low Friday by dropping their 17th consecutive game to start the season and 27th in a row overall, dating back to last year after a 116-114 loss to James Harden and the Houston Rockets.
As noted, the Sixers' 27 straight losses mark a new horrible record in Major United States professional Sports. In addition to that, this is also the second year in a row that the team started with a record of 0 wins and 17 losses.
Sports Illustrated expressed a similar tune and added that if the 76ers lose to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday and with the Los Angeles Lakers in their home court on Tuesday, they will obviously fall to 0-19, giving the team the worst start of the season in NBA History. As of now, the 2009-2010 Nets have the worst record who opened the season with 18 consecutive losses.
Philadelphia's loss last Friday also snapped a three-way tie for the NBA's longest losing streak. The '10-11 Cleaveland Cavaliers and the '13-14 version of the Sixers that both lost 26 consecutive games, and those two teams still share the record for the most consecutive losses within a single season.
However, there's still a bit of a good news to take on this. Compared to last year, Philadelphia is at least more competitive this season — It's just that the other team is better.
The team suffered a string of close game losses recently with games against the Boston Celtics, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Miami Heat.
Going back, this current Sixers losing streak includes 10 straight losses to close the 2014-2015 season. To refresh your mind, the last time Philadelphia won a game was 248 days ago, with it being a March 25 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
But that's not the only take away in this game. The Dream Shake reported that for a team that's currently having the worst season, the Houston Rockets still managed to almost squander the game and lose.
Moreover, it took 50 points from the team's star James Harden to get away with a hard earned win, only for them to beat their opponent with a mere 2 points.
Definitely, a loss to the worst team this season would crush the Rockets' morale who currently have a record of 6 wins and 10 losses.
Houston's next game will be against the New York Knicks this Sunday.
