Bring it on! "Girl Meets World" star Rowand Blanchard is not afraid of publicly calling out Taylor Swift for the wrong message about feminism and friendship Swift and her squad are sending to everyone out there. The 14-year-old and rising Disney Channel actress slammed T-Swift and her celebrity friends this week, and she gotten some flak out of it.
In a recent interview with Just Jared Jr, the "Girl Meets World" star bravely shared her thoughts over "squad goals." She told the site first that female friendship is beautiful yet "insanely powerful."
Then, Blanchard went on to say: "Sisterhood is something so valid and important when you are growing up that I literally think the essence of it should be taught in schools. But, the 'squads' we see in the media are very polarizing."
Trying to make a strong point against "squad goals," Blanchard quipped: "Feminism and friendship are supposed to be inclusive, and most of these 'squads' are strictly exclusive," as reported by CelebDirtyLaundry.
She didn't stop there however. Blanchard went on to opine without really naming Taylor Swift and her squad: ""It makes feminism look very one dimensional. Feminism is so multilayered and complex that it can be frustrating when the media and the celebrities involved in it make feminism and "squads" feel like this very happy, exclusive, perfect thing," as quoted by PopSugar.
Finally, she said, "There's so much more than that. 'Squad goals' can polarize anyone who is not white, thin, tall and always happy."
This isn't something new to Blanchard at all, since the Riley Matthews actress is known for her candid opinion on feminism and gender politics at such a young age.
Though she didn't really name names, sources say her words are directed at Taylor Swift and her elite group of friends, including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevinge, Karlie Kloss, Martha Hunt, Lily Aldridge, Hailee Steinfeld, Serayah, Lorde, Zendaya, Kendall Jenner, Jaime King and Lena Dunham, per Daily Mail.
As of late, Taylor Swift has yet to respond to Blanchard's strong statements, but clearly the "Wildest Dreams" singer's fans are not pleased with Rowan's gesture.
One fan commented on Daily Mail's report about the issue: "And her (Blanchard) manager and her parents ought to scold her before she ruins her own brand if she already hasnt. She was blessed with her own career and success. She should be thankful and not try to tear down others in the entertainment biz. Her comments were neither thought provoking nor intelligent. She is the mean girl."
Another one wrote: "This girl sounds like she wants attention. It's none of her business who Taylor Swift and others choose to be friends with..."
Finally, another fan noted: "Rowan, worry about getting your nasal polyps removed. Or is it a deviated septum? Your stuffy nose voice is more annoying than Taylor and her clique."
