Kate Middleton is so caught up in the middle because her commoner family and the royals headed by Queen Elizabeth have a very different way of celebrating Christmas. While the royals strictly follow aged-old English traditions, the Middletons enjoys "normal" holiday celebrations just like the rest of the world.
Kate Middleton and Prince William are required to attend the usual morning mass with the Queen and then have lunch after. By 3 p.m. the royal family has to gather in the drawing room to watch the speech of the matriarch; however, it appears that the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband had skipped this practice, two years in a row since 2013.
After going to church with the Queen on the morning of Christmas day, the couple would sneak out to go to the Middletons and spend the rest of the holiday celebration in a more relaxing way. This doesn't sit well with the prince's grandma so it was said that she's pretty annoyed with Kate.
And this year, it's happening again, while the palace is also in full swing for the upcoming occasion, it was revealed earlier that the Duchess of Cambridge and her young family has no plans of dining with Queen Elizabeth or hear her speech on Christmas day. At first it was rumored that the family will head over to the Middletons after the morning mass but now plans have changed again according to report by Celeb Dirty Laundry.
As Carole Middleton prepares the house for the festivity which she hope would be enjoyed by her grandchildren — Princess Charlotte and Prince George — it appears that Kate changed her mind and choose to celebrate at the Anmer Hall instead.
She might have been fed up with the battle-like push and pull of where they should stay for the holidays so she just rejected both Carole and the Queen's Christmas traditions. To have a quiet yuletide affair, she opted to decorate the country home she shares with Prince William and that's where they will have their very own Christmas.
In fact, Mirror UK wrote that the duchess already picked gifts for her kids and husband. She also bought one of those easy-to-wipe tablecloth, probably for easy cleaning since a meal with the children can get a little messy too.
What's more, as her family prepares for their own celebration, US Weekly said that according to sources even the 2-year-old Prince George helped his mom and dad in trimming the pine tree they got. The little one assisted in putting up decorations in their 10-bedroom country home in Norfolk, England too.
