Teenager Is Primary Suspect In Jessica Ridgeway's Murder

Colorado Police have detained a 17-year-old college student Wednesday morning regarding the murder of Jessica Ridgeway, a 10-year-old who has been missing since Oct. 5. The authorities found Jessica's incomplete remains near an area of deserted mines in Arvada, Colorado almost a week later.

The primary suspect was revealed to be Austin Reed Sigg, an Arapaho Community College student interested in taking up mortuary science. Whether or not he enrolled in the State's only accredited program was not mentioned by a local broadcasting station.

Meanwhile, CBS Denver claims that Sigg had first informed his own mother of killing Jessica before waiving the right to silence and finally confessing to the police. He also informed the police of hiding a few of her body parts under their home as cited by an anonymous source. The same source also shared with the station that he strangled the young Jessica soon after he was able to get her into his car.

He will be facing first-degree murder in addition to kidnapping charges on his initial courtroom appearance on Thursday. Reed will also be charged with attempting to abduct a woman in Ketner Lake on May 28 which police say, is directly connected with the Ridgeway case. The unnamed runner was attacked from behind and escaped before she was drugged using a chemically soaked towel.

The public is encouraged to contact the authorities if they have any additional information either related to the Jessica's case or any other possible criminal offenses.
