Android Wear Adds A Dash Of Class; Google Now Features Designer Faces For Android Watches

Just in time for the holiday season, Android Wear arrives in style as Google adds new designer watch faces.

As reported by CNET, it has been a big year for Android Wear as dozens of watches have been released over the past few months, with many focused on design and fashion.

Users saw the release of Fossil, Q Founder, Tag Heuer, Connected Watch, Huawei and Moto 360, but Google just added new watch faces.

The tech giant on Tuesday announced a partnership with nine more fashion brands, which will bring new watch faces to the Android Wear line of time pieces.

Tech Crunch reported that Google said in an official statement, "What makes a watch worth wearing? It should be beautiful and useful. Save you time and express your style. Like mechanical watches, Android Wear watches come in countless sizes, styles, and brands. "

Furthermore, "the different ways to wear what you want keep growing-just last month, Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer and fashion brand Fossil launched their first watches powered by Android Wear."

The brands included in the new line-up are Ted Baker, Melissa Joy Manning, Vivienne Tam, Nicole Miller, Y-3, Mango, Zoe Jordan, Harajuku Kawaii and ASICS.

These new watch faces are compatible with all current Android Wear devices, that includes the four listed above as well as the Sony Smartwatch 3, Asus Zenwatch, LG Watch Urbane, Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch R.

According to a related report by Engadget, they are free to download to your Android wearables, which you can find at the Google Play Store.

However, if you're an iPhone user who has an Android Wear device, Google says that these new watch faces will also be available through the Android Wear app for the iOS in the following days.

Over the recent couple of years, wearable tech have been gaining steam as the new trend in everyday wear.

Just earlier this year, the Apple Watch sent the tech industry on a frenzy as everyone, from the everyday man to various celebrities, expressed their desire to rock these high-tech watches.

However, its rather expensive pricing turned off most of them, and only a few managed to grab a unit.

In 2014, the web was abuzz about Google Glass -- a headset optical head-mounted display that is like a computer, but worn like a regular eyeglasses.

But unfortunately, it seems that Google halted the development as the device has yet to see the light of day.

With Apple Watch partnering with luxury brand Hermes and Android Wear pairing with a myriad of designer brands, expect these wearable techs to become as expensive as ever.
