Google has just confirmed that they are now testing a way to enable users to log in into their services without using any password.
The American multinational company is now trying to find a solution concerning passwords. Currently, they are testing a new method which allows users to sign in to their Google account the fastest and easiest way possible.
Google is working on enabling users to log in through a notification sent to their corresponding smartphones. When properly observed, it can be noticed that the new approach is much similar to Yahoo's Account Key for its mail application.
In a statement, Google stated a small portion concerning their experiment.
"We've invited a small group of users to help test a new way to sign-in to their Google accounts, no password required. 'Pizza', 'password' and '123456'-your days are numbered," the American multinational technology company said.
In order to fully participate in the new method, a user must first authorize their phones allowing them to log in with it. They will then put their Gmail address into the Google login page. After that, the user will get a message which reads, "trying to sign in?"
In order to log in, the user only needs to open the said notification. The user can then access his or her account without the use of any password.
Even if the new method of signing in will be successful, users can still use the conventional password method in order to access to Google services.
It should also be noted that the alternative login method is only applicable to users whose phones contain password-protected screen unlock, or a fingerprint identification method.
Google's main reason of finding for alternative ways concerning signing in to their services lies on the fact that passwords are considered weak in terms of security. Oftentimes, password protected accounts are being targeted by hackers thru phishing attacks.
