As an English actor, 34-year-old Eddie Redmayne once wondered why he never got an audition for the Harry Potter films. Even if he had already been given the lead role for Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them, a Harry Potter spinoff movie set written by the same HP series author J.K. Rowling, Redmayne admitted to being desperate to be one of the Weasley family.
He shared that he felt like he was the only actor in England that wasn't given a shot to be in the same film as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. "For years I was always like, in the 'Harry Potter' films, there was a whole ginger family, amd I never got an audition. And I was like, come on, it's outrageous! So I was desperate. Every actor in England was in the Harry Potter films, but I never got the call. Now I'm having my moment," Redmayne tells ITV, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Academy Award-winning actor will play the role of Newton Artemis Fido "Newt" Scamander, a famed Magizoologist and author of the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, who was once a Hogwarts alumnus under the house Hufflepuff.
Redmayne also spoke about his personal take about the pressures he experienced in taking this role and stepping into the world that a lot of people love. "The stakes are high because they were so good before. You don't want to screw it up," he says.
In addition to the blessings coming his way, Redmayne and wife publicist Hannah Bagshawe are currently expecting their first child together. In an interview with E! News, he revealed how his partner keeps him humble, reminding him that he is just an ordinary guy who just so happens to be a famous figure.
The film is set to be released on Nov. 18, 2016.
