Tesla Motors, the premium company for electronic vehicles, known for its latest production - the Model S Sedan and the Model X SUV crossover - has recently rolled out an update to the Model S. The latest software update comes with a very snazzy tweak.
The Version 7.1 update comes with various updates to the Model S' automatic car features which also includes one brand new beta feature that allows car owners to park their cars when they're physically standing outside the car. They call this, the Summon mode.
The latest update allows vehicle owners to park the vehicle with a certain preparation.
To prepare to park your vehicle, align Model S within 39 feet of the final parking space so Model S can move straight into the space either in Reverse or Drive.
The statement above was taken from Tesla's update notes. The notes also indicated that the Model S in park mode, the owner can stand within 10 feet of the car and press the center button on the key fob until the hazard lights flash continuously. When the lights are still flashing, press the trunk button once to drive the Model S forward into the parking space or the trunk button once to back the Model S. The Model S will move up to 39 ft or until the sensors detect an obstacle where it will consider the activity as completed and Autopark will shift the car to Park.
However, before you start fiddling with the latest update, users have to remember that the control panel has to be enabled first.
Tesla recommends to use the Summon mode on flat roads, parking spots and driveways only as there is a minor flaw to the update. The Model S might not be able to detect all objects in the garage which might scratch the paint job.
In addition to the Summon mode, the latest update also includes Autosteer restrictions. The Model S will only go 5 miles beyond the speed limit and won't go higher even in cruise control.
