Are you considering buying stocks as a form of investment? In recent news, buying a Hermès Birkin bag is found to be a much more safer form of investment than joining the stock market.
This is good news for luxury bag collectors who can afford to purchase high end expensive bags like Hermès. According to a recent study, investing in these high-end bags are much more valuable than investing in gold because the value of each bag continues to increase.
The research was created by Baghunter, a luxury handbag platform that compares investment opportunities presented by S&P 500, gold and Hermès bags for over 35 years.
Business Insider noted that a Hermès bag has increased over 500% with an average of 14.2% annually. It has been indicated that the value of each Birkin bag has never depreciated, instead it has increased - climbing steadily.
However, the bags are not luxury bags. They are ultra-luxury bags. Which meant these bags have not been hit by the financial crisis. The luxury market has been severely hit but the ultra-luxury market stood firm against economic and industrial factors.
Compare it to gold which only increases 1.9% annually and stocks increases 11.7% per year only.
Baghunter Evelyn Fox explained that rare luxury items have never dropped value even during recession.
Most average Americans may not be able to purchase such bags and if they do, it may take them a while to save for it or pay it off through credit. Each bag usually costs around $10,000. And that's not the only stumbling block. The price tag is only a fraction of the difficulty to obtain a bag. To get one, you have to get your name on a waiting list and the company only has limited supply, reports indicated.
It looks like the saying "Buying a Hermès Birkin bag is an investment" holds true.
