Hospitalized for an apparent heroin overdose is Stephanie Bongiovi, the 19-year-old daughter of rocker Jon Bon Jovi. She had overdosed in her Hamilton College dorm-room.
His daughter and her friend, Ian Grant, of 21 years of age, now face misdemeanour's drug charges, police have stated.
Bongiovi was reportedly found unresponsive in her dorm at the up state New York liberal arts college Wednesday. The police were called and later emergency services and authorities. She was found alive yet upon searching her room, they found a “small quantity” of heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, TMZ reports.
Bongiovi was arrested but later released from custody. She is ordered to appear in court at a later date. Bon Jovi's management has not released a statement concerning the incident.
Stephanie Bongiovi is one of four children Jon Bon Jovi has with wife Dorothea Hurley, according to People.
Hamilton College released the following statement concerning the incident to WKTV:
"In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation. Our first concern is always for the safety of our students. Out of respect for the privacy of our students and in accordance with federal regulations we do not discuss individual health or disciplinary matters."
According to Men’s Health, Jon Bon Jovi has never-himself had a substance abuse problem nor has he received help for any. On the other hand, his guitarist, Richie Sambora, has struggled with alcoholism in recent years.
