Levante 0–4 Barcelona: Barca’s unbeaten league run continues

Barcelona has enjoyed an impressive start this season, having won all but one game in the first twelve matches and remained unbeaten. With Real Madrid suffering from a shocking loss against Real Betis yesterday, the current title leader is looking to extend the lead up to 11 points should they manage to secure a win against Levante, which was at 6th prior to the game.

Levante had their best chance in only 13 minutes, when Barkero's shot forced the opponent goalkeeper Victor Valdes to make a big save. Barkero is currently the second top goalscorer of his team with two goals.

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves injured himself in just only 14 minutes and he was substituted by Martin Montoya. Eight minutes later, Lionel Messi had a chance of scoring, but he sent it just wide to the right. Further attempts from Xavi and Gerard Pique were not turned into goals, as both team finished the first half with a goalless draw.

Barcelona opened the score two minutes after the start of second half, as Messi broke through Levante's line of defense and put the ball past goalkeeper Munua. He doubled his tally in only 5 minutes after receiving a wonderful pass from teammate Andres Iniesta. This was his 82nd goal in 2012, just three goals away from Gerd Mueller's all-time record of 85 goals in 1972.

Iniesta scored the third goal for Barca with a fabulous strike that went into the top corner before Munua could react. He then sent in his third assist of the game to allow Cesc Fabregas to tap in the 4th goal for Barcelona.

Barca manager Tito Vilanova made several substitutions later in the game by bringing in Thiago Alcantara and Adriano for Xavi and Jordi Alba respectively.

Levante was given a penalty, as Carles Puyol was given a yellow card for tackling Michel inside the penalty area. However, Victor Valdes managed to save the weak penalty as well as the rebound from Barkero.
