You've probably thought that you have already heard all the best career advice that could be given. But are you really sure?
Many internet forums are saying that some of the career advice that they have been hearing lately are things that they've never heard before - and they are great as well.
So, keep your eyes and mind open, for you may find something in this article that can give your career its needed boost.
1. If you're new at a job, don't turn down an invitation to a happy hour
If you decline your first invite, you might not get a follow up and the one that invited you may influence others in the office not to do so either. Just be sure that the place you're going to will not compromise you in some ways.
2. Accept ad-hoc duties and responsibilities
Doing a task not really included in your terms of employment, if it is really needed at the time, shows your boss that you are really a person that will do the job, no matter what. It shows that you are giving value to your work and the company.
3. Don't give the impression that you are too busy
"The busier you appear, often the less you will move up," Mira Zaslove, the director of Insternational Sales and Trading at FabExchange said.
"I've seen smart and dedicated employees fail to get promoted, because they have taken on too much, are working too hard, and appeared too frazzled," she added.
So, just keep on doing what you are told to do, to the best of your ability, and the results will show.
4. Talk to your boss and ask him about his biggest problem in the company. And then help him solve it, in the right way. Of course, this career advice presupposes that your job puts you in constant contact with him.
