The Super Bowl is known not only for the sport but also for the commercial take overs. Thousands of dollars are spent for a Super Bowl Ad and Taco Bell made sure it went big with it's Quesalupa.
The Taco Bell's Super Bowl Ad featured Brazilian soccer player Neymar with George Takei beside announcing the Quesalupa. The Quesalupa is the latest food invention which is expected to become the next big pop-culture trend.
The Super Bowl ad aired during the game's first quarter. Making sure it went big, it compares the product with other big things that made its mark during the last year, like the Hoverboard and drones while Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle" plays in the background.
The ad closes with "The Quesalupa. It's going to be bigger than everything."
The $2.99 taco is already available today. Picture a taco made of fried flour tortilla shell stuffed with melted pepper jack cheese than pulls with every bite.
Online sites describe it as warm taffy where the warm cheese is pulled apart when the chalupa style shell is broken apart.
When Taco Bell announced it's biggest food creation on January, it wasn't quite specific about it. Even Taco Bell Spokesman Rob Poetsch said, "How do you announce something you can't even talk about?"
When the Quesalupa was made, its creation started as a pencil sketch. It was initially a twist on the Salvadorian pupusas - a thick tortilla stuffed with cheese, beans or meat. With that in mind, the creative team behind the product went to work, thinking how to fit the idea in a hard shell.
The reviews have been positive and consumers welcome the delicious treat that even Tim Powell, restaurant analyst, explains this taco phenomenon, "They know their customers very well, and that's the strength in this (restaurant) business."
