Super Bowl 50 Commercials 2016: The Top 5 Best Ads

Super Bowl doesn't just mean football season, it also means that advertisers pay big bucks to grab a time slot since it's a must-see event for all advertisers and businesses. The Super Bowl 50 puts all ads on the spot since it's the Big 50 of football. We already know what the worst ads are. The question is, what are the best ads?

In order to answer that question, the ads need to be measured by a standard form of survey and The USA Today Super Bowl Ad Meter is just the thing for that. The Ad Meter is an annual survey taken by USA Today that measures television commercials in a live poll during the telecast of the NFL Super Bowl. The survey, which started in 1989, uses a live response on a zero-to-ten scale (zero being the worst, ten the best) of focus groups around the country. For this year, these are the ads that took the top 5 best commercials during the Super Bowl according to the 28th Ad Meter Survey:

  1. Hyundai, “First Date” scored a 6.91. The ad shows comedian Kevin Hart playing the role of an overprotective dad with the help of his new Hyundai Genesis.

  2. Second place goes to Heinz, “Wiener Stampede” with a score of 6.64 because who doesn't love Dachshunds?
  3. Doritos, “Ultrasound” scored a 6.61 because of the dad using a Doritos chip to bait the baby to move around inside its mother's womb.
  4. Fourth place goes to Doritos again, this time for “Doritos Dogs” with a 6.49 where three dogs try to act human in order to get their paws on some Doritos.
  5. Last place goes to Hyundai's second commercial that shows a town full of Ryan Reynolds - “Ryanville” scored 6.27.
