Mac World UK has identified the pattern of Apple's Plus-branded iPhones based on their launch and release dates for the past two years, and it claims it is a very simple pattern. Two iPhones are announced at the same time during a press event in September. Then, they are on sale within a week to ten days.
Following this pattern started in 2014 and then continued on to 2015, the iPhone 7 Plus should be revealed with the iPhone 7 in September of 2016.
Mac World even seems to have the day of the week narrowed down: the event in September of 2016 usually occurs on a Tuesday or Wednesday in early to mid September.
As if that was not sufficient, Mac World UK now has the proposed dates of this event for you. They claim the 6th, 7th, 13th or 14th are strong contenders. This is highly likely based on the iPhone event's past history, which has been held on the 12th, 10th, 9th and 9th of September in that order.
However, it is not a science. It is entirely within the realm of possibility that Apple will choose to update the 4-inch iPhone sometime within the coming 12 months. (The iPhone 7 Plus will be 5.5-inch and the iPhone 7 4.7-inch.) The iPhone 5s and 5c did come out back in September 2013.
The question is whether Apple will release an 'iPhone 7 Mini'. It might not do that at the same event as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, so as not to make it overwhelming for the press and/or public. After all, it was allegedly why the new iPad Air wasn't released with the iPad Pro and iPad mini 4.
And the daunting question: what if there is to be no iPhone 7 Plus at all? What if September 2016 brings us only the arrival of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 mini?
