VR Games are on the rise and now, there are more available especially now that Unity supports Stream VR.
The virtual reality industry has not been slow. It has gained momentum ever since Google and Oculus have staked their claim in the virtual reality world.
Adding virtual reality to video games is taking the experience up a notch especially with the integration between Unity games and Valve's StreamVr.
Unity Game Developers now have the capability to create VR experiences which can roll out more VR game titles. It is clear that virtual reality will enhance the audio and video gaming experience with its capabilities.
But it's not that easy. Playing VR games requires a special type of hardware like HTC Vive which will be available in April. As more companies are getting in on the VR game, this makes Vive and StreamVR open-source competitors to the Oculus Rift.
John Riccitiello, CEO of Unity Technologies, says that they are dedicated to creating the highest quality VR experience. "That means giving developers every possible chance to succeed, and our collaboration with Valve is designed to do just that," Riccitiello explains.
The company behind the StreamVR is Valve and they are responsible for the integration with Unity Technologies. Both companies are big names in the game development world and this new platform excites game developers.
PC Mag has explained the player's perspective. They conducted a hands-on test during the latest CES on the Vive controller and found it to be similar to Oculus Touch and PlayStation VR controllers.
The Vive includes a headset, two single-handed controllers and two base stations.
Though the Oculus Rift will be the first in the race when it it launches in March, the company remains positive that gamers and developers will prove the integration to be successful. But only time can tell on how many more companies are cashing in on VR.
