AT&T Joins Verizon In 5G Testing: What Is 5G?

Consumers have already experienced 3G then 4G. Now, AT&T along with Verizon is now working on 5G. What is 5G and do users really need it?

While wireless providers and telecom companies continue to strive for the fastest service they can offer, worldwide, Verizon and AT&T have took it a step further and started testing 5G. What exactly is 5G? Initially, consumers were unsure but it is believed that the latest version will change the world.
Verizon has started exploring 5G in 2015 and AT&T does not want to be left behind even if the company has just polished its 4G service.

AT&T has already started to collaborate with notable companies like Intel and Ericsson on lab testing . Once that becomes successful, they will then move to a field test in Austin, Texas, where the partners hope to have fixed sites that wiill service 5G before 2016 ends.

Both companies are on a race and they only have less than a year to make the big announcement. And once this announcement is made, wireless providers will be interested in this kind of technology where it is known that consumers are very ready to accept a faster speed.

It is now known that AT&T and Verizon are testing it out, what exactly is 5G? There are no official specifics of what 5G is exactly. Nothing is standardized globally at the moment but it's clear that it's going to be better than 4G. The fifth generation wireless technology promises a better service for consumers. Tech Times define it as 5G wireless delivery with a combination of MIMO and carrier aggregation. MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) moderates traffic to ensure that data flows efficiently.

When it comes out, consumers may ask if they need 5G. You might. 5G promises to deliver superfast speeds, allowing consumers and businesses to move deeper into the cloud.
