Minnesota Vikings LB, Chad Greenway, is currently under a lot of media scrutiny after a statement he made asking fans to get “super-duper drunk” for their showdown against their conference rivals, the Chicago Bears. Greenway had initially intended his comments to be nothing more than a light-hearted attempt at humor, but his statements went viral pretty quick, and for the wrong reasons to boot.
Now the linebacker has quickly backed off his statement saying that he should have been more careful with his words. “Obviously, I could have used more responsible words,” said Greenwood during an interview with ESPN Radio Chicago.
Greenway’s controversial remarks came after the Vikings loss to the Green Bay Packers last Sunday. Asked whether or not their upcoming game against the Bears was a do or die situation, Greenway responded with his now infamous remarks and was immediately met with backlash once the news went viral.
The outrage spawned by his words last Sunday have even caused the hosts of NBC’s Pro Football talk to ask the NFL to fine Greenwood. So far, there has been no official word on whether or not the NFL will drop any sort of disciplinary sanction on the six-year veteran linebacker from the University of Iowa.
