"Half Life 3" confirmed release rumors continue to circulate online, but with limited information, fans are forced to make speculations about its launch.
"It's been widely speculated that the reason there's little news on the Half-Life 3 side is because Valve are too busy making huge profits from their Steam service, DOTA 2 micro-transactions and other popular franchises; Left 4 Dead, Portal, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress etc.," Movie Pilot reported.
"This is a feeling that Newell's comments regarding Portal 2 and multi-player updates certainly seem to chime with, making it less likely that we'll ever see Half-Life 3 clawing through to the light of day."
Speculations also surfaced that HL3 will be a VR game. However, the rumors were quickly gunned down by Valve's Chet Faliszeck.
"He then spoke about how VR headsets will not be going wireless anytime soon due to the bandwidth problems (two screens need to refresh 90 times a second, basically. You need cables for that)," VG 247 noted.
"When asked about the Half-Life 3 question again by the same person, he joked 'I said 'no'."
However, his vague response sparked a lot of questions from fans waiting for "Half Life 3" to be confirmed. Previous rumors hinted that Valve may have not completely abandoned the idea of making the new title despite previous reports slamming rumors of the game's production.
"Will game developer Valve push through with 'Half Life 3' production?" Christian Today reported.
"Rumor has it that the developer will; in fact, the game is reportedly underway. In the same report from Neurogadget, it was mentioned that fans should anticipate an announcement of a new game by the end of this year."
