Valentine’s Pizza! Heart Shaped Pizza Tradition Continued in Honor of Chunki

On Valentine's Day, a heart shaped pizza was made in honor of Frank "Chunki" Angotti because what's more sweeter than carbs, cheese, and pepperoni baked into pizza perfection and in the shape of a heart?

Businesses are known to cash in on the unofficial holiday, painting everything red, posting love notes everywhere and even shaping everything into hearts.

The Valentine's Pizza was quite a popular item over the weekend and has been a specialty of the house since 1983. Each pizza cost about $20.00 and has been on demand for pick-up and delivery. Calls from loyal customers and people in love (and hungry) called in. By 6:00 PM, they were all sold out.

But this year, it's different - it's a special time especially since the pizza named after the man has passed away.

This has been a specialty of the business since 1983, but this year the family says they're doing it for him, and they've received great support from the community since Chunki's passing.

Frank "Chunki" Angotti passed away on February 4, 2016 after a sudden illness. He was known to be a successful businessman and memorable public authority. He operated and owned Chunki's Restaurant for 38 years. He was especially proud of the Hot Italian Sub and the special heart shaped pizzas on Valentine's Day.

The food spot is a popular icon in Harrison County and loyal customers who knew him and the family will surely miss his presence.

Although he was already interred on February 7th, if you'd like to honor his legacy, the family has explained that donations may be made in Chunki's memory to Medbrook Children's Charity, P.O. Box 1021, Bridgeport, WV 26330 or to Bi-County Nutrition Program, 416 1/2 Ohio Avenue, Nutter Fort, WV 26301.
