Ed Sheeran News: Artist Wins Award But Why Is The Spotlight On Taylor Swift?

Ed Sheeran bagged his first Grammys for Song of The Year. His hit track "Thinking Out Loud" puts the spotlight on him - and apparently Taylor Swift, too. Sheeran deserved to be praised for his first ever achievement and successful nomination, until an excited TayTay stole the spotlight from him.

Though not on purpose, the camera was focused more on Swift than the redheaded singer. Consequently, Swift was also nominated for her song "Blank Space."

Swift was so ecstatic about Sheeran's win that she gave the British artist a tight hug, and made it completely obvious to everyone, with tears and smiles, that she was so happy for him when he said his speech.

Why did this happen? Her recent Instagram post might shed light on this. Swift went online, posting a picture of Sheeran holding his grammy to greet him on his 25th birthday.

"Looking back on the highlights of my life, there's a moment I'll never forget from a day in London about two years ago," captions Swift on her social media post.

She explained that Sheeran and her have a friendship that is meaningful to her and that this award is something he deserves. She described moments with Sheeran as inspiring as he stormed in to her dressing room with new songs to play to her, asking her to listen to his new creations.

This clears things up for those confused as to why she appeared to have the cameras turned on her.

Clearly, his successes have no plans of stopping as he is featured in Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' new album called "This Unruly Mess I've Made" as a guest artist for the track "Growing Up."
