The Los Angeles Lakers have not been living up to the expectations set upon them as they are currently on one of their worst starts in franchise history. With injuries to Steve Nash (leg) Pau Gasol (knees), the Lakers are desperately looking for ways to stop the bleeding until their two stars return. One name that seems to be on top of their prospect list is Delonte West.
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Lakers are now weighing in the advantages and disadvantages of signing the veteran West to a roster spot with the team. Stein also noted that while West is definitely on top of the team’s list, he has heard reports that they will definitely be searching around. West last played for the Dallas Mavericks who waived him earlier this season due to numerous violations of team conduct.
West’s career has been plagued with several issues both on and off the court. Perhaps the most infamous of them would be his rumored relationship with the mother of former teammate, LeBron James. Despite his problems, West can indeed become a valuable addition to the struggling Lakers who are below the .500 mark. This is assuming that he can keep his marbles together and avoid causing any more controversy.
