1. Mark Ruffalo. Brain Tumor. Back in 2001, the actor had a dream that he had a brain tumor. It bothered him so much to the point that he went to see a doctor to make sure everything's alright. As it turned out, he really did have it. He had a successful operation for his tumor removal. Ruffalo told The Guardian that the whole experience of getting close to death changed his perspective in life.
2. Hugh Jackman. Skin Cancer. He discovered Basal Cell Carcinoma on his nose in 2013 and since then went under several procedures for cancer. Up to this day, Jackman gets checked every three months. He used his experience as a tool for awareness and urges people to wear sunscreen.

Apart from that, she also talked about her brain tumor which, fortunately, isn't serious. To make sure she's okay, she gets an MRI every six months. "Without question, finding out I had breast cancer seven and a half years ago was a game changer. It forced me really to look at who I was and the line of people I took care of. I was at the bottom of my list and never said no to anybody," Crow said.
4. Kathy Bates. Breast and Ovarian Cancer. Bates was diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in 2003. Since then, she didn't want to take any chances. So upon diagnosis of breast cancer in 2012, she underwent a double mastectomy. Bates never really liked to talk about her battle publicly, and she told the Daily Mail that it's something she regrets. Bates said that if she goes through it again, she'll be more open like the people she admires - those who walk around with their wigs and just facing their illnesses with courage.
5. Rod Stewart. Thyroid Cancer. In 2000, Stewart was undergoing a routine CAT scan when a tumor was found on his thyroid gland. Ever since he became cancer free, Stewart dedicated a great deal of his time to the City of Hope Foundation - which seeks cures for all types of cancer.
