Well this is one story that is definitely for the birds. Doctors in Kansas can now say that they have seen almost everything there is to see in their careers after a feather was pulled out from the neck of 7-month old Mya Whittington. No one knows how the feather got into the infant’s neck, but it has certainly left many people baffled and searching for clues.
At first, Mya’s parents and pediatrician thought that it was nothing more than a swollen gland, but were shocked when they made the startling discovery. Doctors believe that the infant might have either swallowed or inhaled the feather, which pierced the right side of her cheek. Mya’s father, Aaron Whittington, says that her body had naturally rejected the feather and was forcing it out of her.
Doctors also said that Mya could have been in a lot of pain, but her mother, Emma, says that Mya had never cried in pain before the discovery. She says that the only time Mya ever cried out loud was when the nurses started to poke her. Well whatever the case maybe, her parents are thankful that this whole thing is over and that little Mya can grow up without feeling like she just swallowed a bird.
