During a press conference on Monday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain, Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised to the press to extend more effort on bringing the developing world online.
Facebook as described by Zuckerberg is working on a new project with other major telecom players, such as Nokia, Deutsche Telekom, SK Telecom and Intel where for a lower cost, is helping to rapidly build a faster mobile network.
Facebook was ready to assist its network operators to deliver enough data to consumers, also indicating more of the industry's demand.
His aim is to challenge a next generation 5G networks as a priority, where the company is prepping to deliver by 2020. He stated that it would be a faster connection for wealthy people and assured that the companies are making an effort to get the job done by giving the world internet access.
He noted that above 4 billion people aren't able to get internet access.Telecom operators criticized Facebook and Google which are known for delivering heavy data services, are now free loading on to bigger investment that must be maintained in fixed-line in order for mobile networks to become overloaded.
Forrester Research analyst Thomas Husson .commenting on Zuckerberg saying, "Facebook has always had a love-hate relationship with carriers," Adding complication with his relationship to telecom industry. Zuckerberg said that video would be the next big thing to drive the growth of the company, in return giving more than 100 million hours of video play for users to watch on a daily basis.
While the industry is still being criticized for failed attempts to reach disconnected population, the CEO is working on a project that has to do with virtual reality cameras as an app for 5G that would initiate new demands on networks to reach its potential
