There are those who are comfortable waking up in the morning for a morning run or exercise before doing anything or going to work. There are those who would rather finish things first before going to the gym or hitting the track for a round or two. Then, there are those who are not able to finish anything during the day because they prefer to do things at night.
Well, if you want your days to be productive, then here are some morning habits that you can adapt in order for you to have a successful day.
1. Have your energizer
Some people cannot do any kind work without a cup of coffee; for some it's tea. For others, it's going for a quick swim or run. Whatever your morning energizer maybe, make sure to do it as soon as you wake up so you can begin to start your day. Say hello to the morning light; it will help you have a good mood the rest of the day.
2. Get important things done first
Mark Twain believes in eating a live frog first thing in the morning. However, this does not, in any way, mean that you should look for a kicking frog early in the morning and literally get a bite. Instead, this simply means that you should get the most important things done first.
According to researches, people have the most willpower in the morning. Meaning to say, that mornigns are for important things -- your priorities, what needs to be done during that day that cannot be done on any other day.
3. Organize your to-do list
Organizing your to-do list can help things done in an easier and faster way. What you can do is list down everything you need to accomplish for that day and then number them from the most important to the least important.
Follow Laura Vanderkam's advice and ask yourself these questions: Will it forward your career? Is it a prerequisite to other tasks? Can it only be done today? That way, you will learn which ones are the topmost important tasks of the day.
So, there you have it: the four things you should do to accomplish more throughout the workday. Drink coffee, eat a metaphorical frog, and get to work.
