Back in the days when gamers experienced rage quitting, it usually involved bitter anger, plenty of cuss words and the occasional breaking of the keyboard. Now it has taken to a far more reach of consequences where players found out about Street Fighter V.
If a player decides to throw in the towel in an online game when they are certain that there loosing, the hard fought victory of their opponent would be stolen from them as the streak of the player would count as a win.
According to a report on GameSpot, the number of players that has gone to rage quitting has altered the ranking system online of Street Fighter 5. This concludes an epidemic for rage quitters where Street Fighter 5 players are working their way around the ranking system to effectively avert themselves from dropping a rank, considering that they didn't give the game a chance to do so.
In a Capcom Unity blog it was stated, "Yes, we are well aware of the problem of players disconnecting before the match ends to retain their League Points and their win streaks. We are working on a permanent solution to this problem, though we don't have an exact date to share with you at the moment. That said, we are going to take direct action starting next week to punish those players who are abusing the system."
Basically Street Fighter 5 players had brought this attention to themselves where they manipulated the global ranking system by distorting their actual loss percentage due to rage quitting.
