Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly on the verge of a massive transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United (MU). Rumors have it that the 31-year-old Portuguese professional footballer has personally handed his transfer request to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
The world of football is currently plagued with transfer rumors, which could pave the way for the biggest transfers this summer. According to The Independent, Cristiano Ronaldo is not the only one who handed in his transfer request but also 29-year-old Spanish footballer Sergio Ramos.
The publication added that Ronaldo and Ramos had a meeting with Perez to tell him their desires to leave the team. The meeting reportedly transpired after Real Madrid's loss to Atletico Madrid over the weekend.
In recent season, both Ronaldo and Ramos have been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, who is reportedly on alert to bid for the players' transfers.
In addition to Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, Manchester United is also reportedly eyeing to bid for 21-year-old Italian professional footballer Domenico Berardi, who plays for Sassuolo.
Manchester United is also reportedly offering $33 million (£23.3 million) to convince Gerardi to ignore the interest of transfer from Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Bleacher Report revealed. Unfortunately, neither MU nor the aforementioned European team bigwigs may get the pleasure to sign Berardi because Serie A giants, Juventus, has already drafted a deal to the Italian footballer.
"It's true, there is a kind of gentlemen's agreement with the Bianconeri," Berardi's agent said. "This doesn't mean that he will join them for sure in June. It will be up to the player to choose."
Also joining the summer transfer rumor mill is Real Madrid's attacking midfielder James Rodriguez. The 24-year-old Colombian professional footballer reportedly caught the attention of Manchester United in the past.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo's greatest rival Lionel Messi recently denied any animosity between them. The 28-year-old Argentine footballer said that he has a lot of respect for Ronaldo, insisting there's nothing complex about their rivalry.
"There's never been anything other than respect [between us]," he said. "We are professionals that defend our sides, and we're rivals in the game, but nothing more than that."
