Frontier Airlines is letting go 700 of its American-based employees after decided to save costs and outsource those jobs.
The job cuts will affect all of its destinations except Denver International Airport. Frontier did not specify when exactly the layoffs will go into effect. The jobs to be outsourced include positions at the airline's ramps, gates and ticket counters.
According to the Denver Post, the company says the goal is to keep costs down. Frontier said it plans to work with the other vendors in an effort to help their employees apply for their jobs with a new employer.
"We have made the tough but necessary decision to outsource all of our non-Denver stations that are currently internally staffed," Frontier spokeswoman Kate O'Malley told the newspaper via email. "We need to take every reasonable measure to ensure the future stability and viability of our company and to keep our costs low for our customers."
Last month, reports showed Frontier dropped non-stop service from Colorado Springs to Orlando and other cities. However, the airline has added other flights to different airports across the country.
