A Marvel character would not be present during the upcoming installment of the "Thor" series next year, as reported by Ecumenical News on Saturday. Stellan Skarsgard's Dr. Erik Selvig is going to be missing in action in "Thor: Ragnarok". The actor recently revealed to Den of Geek that he will not be participating in the upcoming installment even if he is still under contract with Marvel.
"I have a 5-film deal with them, and they still have one option. Thor 3 is not on my slate, but maybe the next Avengers," he admitted. Skarsgard has already appeared in four films already; Thor, The Avengers, Thor: Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Obviousy, his final pick to seal their 5-film deal would be Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Mark Ruffalo will be joining Chris Hemsworth in the official cast as the Incredible Hulk, who will go into eight realms with Thor. Samuel L. Jackson is also rumoured for a comeback to reprise his role as Nick Fury. It was also speculated that Cate Blanchett could actually be the one to portray the villain for the upcoming film. Spoilers have suggested that she could take on the role of Amora the Enchantress or Hela, who will be planning an attack and destruction for Asgard.
Unfortunately for the avid fans of Loki, Tom Hiddleston's involvement with the film has yet to be confirmed. Fans of Thor will have to wait in general, because the initial planned release of the film is expected to be on Nov. 3, 2017 which is about a year and a half later.
According to IMDB, if the movie follows the Norse Mythology, then 'Thor 3: Ragnarok' will consist of a huge fight between Loki and his followers against Thor and his friends.
