The next "James Bond" actor could be "Avengers" star Tom Hiddleston.Telegraph reported that the actor sparked speculations that he may be Daniel Craig's successor as Agent 007. Hiddleston, who currently stars in BBC's "The Night Manager," is being eyed as the future "James Bond" actor.
"I'm a huge fan of the series," he said in an interview with The Sunday Times. "We all went to see 'Spectre' when we were shooting 'Skull Island' in Hawaii. I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing."
"If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity," Tom Hiddleston admitted. "And I'm very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly."
The "Avengers" star got the 12th spot in TIME's poll last year for the next "James Bond" actor. Idris Elba topped the poll with 12.5% of the votes while Tom Hardy was in second with 5.5%.
Angelina Jolie got 18th place. She was followed by Kate Beckinsale.
According to EW, "James Bond" actor Daniel Craig may no longer reprise his role in the next installment of the franchise. Last year, he has said that he would rather "slash [his] wrists" than do another "Bond" movie.
"If you're 200 yards from the end of a marathon, and someone comes running up to you and says, 'Are you going to run another marathon?' there's two words you use, and not on a morning show," Craig clarified.
"So that's really what that was about. And I've had massive amounts of fun making this film. Probably more fun on this film than I have on all the others put together."
BuzzFeed noted that there are mixed reactions on Tom Hiddleston being the future "James Bond" actor. Some think that Idris Elba would be perfect for the role. "I adore Tom Hiddleston. He's as close to perfect as they come," a comment read.
"However. I hate the Bond franchise... It could at least try to cast a dark or female actor, to play Bond in an effort to redeem itself. I hope they'll pick another actor, he's too good to play Bond."
