Before the aliens invade the earth in the upcoming movie "Independence Day 2: Resurgence," actor Liam Hemsworth spilled some details regarding his character in the upcoming movie.
Hemsworth plays a space pilot for ESD named Jake Morrison who was sent outside of earth as a punishment for his reckless ways. His character in "Resurgence" has a bitter past becoming an orphan at a young age due to both of his parents being killed in the first alien attack.
"[Jake's] parents were killed in the first attack," Hemsworth shared, as reported by Enztars (via SlashFilm). "So he grew up in an orphanage, joined the military, became a fighter pilot and ended up in the best of the best fighter pilots and makes a bad decision and ends up being demoted to the moon where he drives what is essentially the same as a forklift."
As a pilot in charge outside the earth, Hemsworth also shared how he coped with becoming a pilot in the movie without even trying his hands out on a real plane. "I'm flying a hybrid alien/human spaceship, so there's no real training you can get for that," Hemsworth according to People Magazine.
"It's not a real plane. But we did have a lot of military people there on set and we had advisors who told us what a fighter pilot would do before taking off, checking the flight plan and things like that, which we did do in the film. So we always had really good advice," he added.
"Independence Day 2: Resurgence" happens 20 years after the first alien invasion in the 1996 flick "Independence Day." The new film will see more destruction when the war between earth and the aliens start. "Resurgence" also features some old faces from the 1996 film like Vivica Fox, Brent Spiner, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman. The movie is directed by Roland Emmerich.
