Before Apocalypse creates chaos in the upcoming movie "X-Men: Apocalypse" coming in May 2016, actress Alexandra Shipp, the woman behind the young Storm talks about some gists about her character's past and its connection with Apocalypse.
Shipp revealed in an article from Collider that her role in "X-Men: Apocalypse" was an "old derivative" of Halle Berry's portrayal as Storm. Shipp's role as Storm in the movie originated in Cairo and her life is full of trials and heartaches. The character was orphaned at five and stayed with bad/negative company while growing up. Storm in "X-Men: Apocalypse" is "lost" in the process and she finds it hard to know where she truly belongs.
"It's like, she's kind of just all really messed up and the only mutants that she knows are bad mutants," mentioned Shipp as reported by the publication. "The only mutants that she knows are the mutants who use their powers for stealing, or protecting thugs or whatever. It's not like, 'Oh, we're going to save the planet'. It's like, 'Forget the planet, I need money so I'm going to distract you with some wind and then I'm going to pick pocket you.'"
Meanwhile, Shipp also dished out on how she prepared for her role in "X-Men: Apocalypse" and the 24-year-old actress detailed that it involves reading a lot of comics and watching "X-Men" cartoons.
"I read a lot of comics. I watched the cartoons just on repeat. I just kept it going 'cause you could watch them on Hulu Plus," Shipp told the outlet. "So I just had it going in the background just like all the time and whenever Storm came on, I love how her accent changed a whole bunch, which was awesome. You're just like, 'Wow, she's gone from English to sister girl, all the way back.'"
Apart from Shipp's character as "Storm," a new poster just came out for the movie. The poster as mentioned by Yahoo featured Apocalypse and the four Horseman. The creative material for the movie captioned "Destroy" includes Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Ben Hardy as Angel and Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse.
Watch "X-Men: Apocalypse" in cinemas on May 27, 2016.
