"Gunjack" and "Elite: Dangerous" have been confirmed to be Oculus Rift games. The VR headset is slated for release this Mar. 28, 2016.
Eurogamer reported that CCP Games is developing a port for its Gear VR shooter "Gunjack" to PC with Rift support. It will be available later this month, during the Oculus Rift release date.
The confirmed Oculus Rift game will also be made compatible with HTC Vive later this year. "Gunjack" is priced at $9.99.
In the game, players will be placed on a gun turret to save a deep space mining vessel from pirate invasion. The game is set in the "EVE Online" universe.
CCP Games will add higher-resolution graphics for "Gunjack's" PC debut. It will now have improved textures and models, enhanced audio, achievements and leaderboards, among others.
The upcoming Oculus Rift game was released in Nov. 2015 for Gear VR. Moreover, "Gunjack" is currently the top-selling title on the platform.
"We're honored by the reception 'Gunjack' has had so far and excited to bring the game to new platforms," Jean-Charles Gaudechon, the game's executive producer, said. "Our goal is to push the boundaries when it comes to VR and immersion, and we really want to bring this experience to as many players as possible."
Another Oculus Rift game will be "Elite: Dangerous." Frontier Developments founder and CEO David Braben made the announcement to Ars Technica.
"We're supporting [the Oculus Rift runtime] one point naught and the consumer release at launch, which is Mar. 28," Braben said. "We didn't announce we would be there at launch until now, but now we're doing it! I don't deny I've been itching to announce it."
There were speculations on "Elite: Dangerous" being one of the highly-anticipated Oculus Rift games, especially since it was one of the first big titles to fully support the developer kit versions of the Oculus Rift.
The timing of Frontier Developments' official announcement matched with Oculus' announcement on "Elite" support. Braben has previously stated that they have been "working closely" with Oculus VR.
