"Penny Dreadful" season 3 is definitely embracing its dark side, and the characters of the gothic horror series is now back to continue the action that happened last season. New spoilers of the series teased what could be expected of Eva Green's Vanessa Ives in the third season after she was horribly rejected by Ethan and how she attempts to heal the roaring insanities in her mind.
Ecumenical News presented the trailer for the upcoming season and it follows on the life of Ives' after she fought the witches' demon and being tormented with the love she offered Ethan. In the featured clip, Green detailed from her interview with E! News about her character Vanessa Ives incredulous transformation after defeating the string of events. The bold and dauntless beauty is now stuck "lost" in the third season.
Ives' as described, is tormented and lulled up with sadness after the rejection. "It's as if her armor has been stripped away. She's stuck in this vicious circle in which she's lost all sense of who she really is." Green explained according to the outlet.
The mini clip also welcomed the character of Patty Lupone's Dr. Seward in "Penny Dreadful" season 3 as she helps Ives cure her mental incapacities. Apart the treatment Dr. Seward prescribes Ives to look out for something that makes her happy. She visits the National History Museum where she meets Christian Camargo's character as the ambitious zoologist Dr. Alexander Sweet who somehow captures her fancy.
Meanwhile Bloody Disgusting discussed that Dr. Sweet may eventually deceive Ives in the process and lure her into something that he is not. Apart from Ives, Lily and Dorian too are speculated to create a sting in the third season of "Penny Dreadful." Director John Logan even hinted that both characters will also exemplify a great deal of interest for the viewers.
"Well, yes and no. Certainly, as characters - like you said as this new power couple - they're quite formidable," said Creator/ Writer John Logan from IGN. "And they definitely sort of rose up in Episode 10 of this season. And our characters come into conflict with many shapes and shadows and have a lot of challenges ahead of them. And so Lily and Dorian will be a big part of next season. And they're terrifying. Because whereas The Creature wants to be a part of humanity, to be one with humanity, and to be accepted by other people, Lily and Dorian want to rule over humanity. And it's a chilling, scary thought."
