Sony PlayStation VR Highest In Amazon Gaming Chart

Gaming aficionados will not be surprised to know that the Sony PlayStation VR has recently claimed the No. 1 slot on the gaming chart of Amazon.

Although this fact is clearly proven in Amazon.co.uk, it might well be that the same situation will be true where ever the gadget has gained popularity. Pre-orders were exclusively opened only for UK customers on Wednesday morning and the stock were sold out within the hour.

Amazon immediately issued a notice informing those who had pre-ordered the device to get their PS VRs on launch day. The gadget's price is £349.99 or $506.79 as announced by Sony the previous night.

However, the consumer electronics company has not indicated the date when more units of the PS VRs will be on sale at Amazon. According to Sony, the device will have a worldwide launch in October this year and will be sold at $399.

The entertainment company also made it clear that the PlayStation Camera is required to enable the PlayStation VR to function properly. This camera jumped to No. 7 on the gaming charts.

Sony demonstrated the consumer version of the PlayStation VR headset at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016 in San Francisco, CA. There were lots of information the company has revealed previously about this product except its price and availability.

Now that it has revealed this important information, this reduces the resistance of gamers to give the PS VR a try. Considering that its nearest rivals are pricier - Oculus Rift at $599 and HTC Vive at $799 - the PS VR now stands to be the device to beat in terms of cost and popularity.

Even if the cost of the PlayStation Camera is added, the total price to enjoy the PS VR is still quite low compared to its nearest rivals. Therefore, it is not so surprising that it hugged the No. 1 spot in Amazon.co.uk and may well be all over the planet as well come October.
