Christian Post reported that fans may have to continue waiting for the highly-anticipated "Narcos" season 2 release date. There are reports that suggest that the show may have been delayed from its airing schedule, which was slated for Aug. 2016.
Furthermore, it was revealed that "Narcos" season 2 will follow Pablo Escobar's real-life timeline. This means that Wagner Moura's character may be killed off by the end of the series' next season.
According to Crossmap, the first season of "Narcos" was very fast-paced that the series was able to tell the story of Escobar's rise to power in just 10 episodes. Near the end of the season, the drug lord ruled in a La Catedral prison.
The "Narcos" season 1 finale showed Pablo Escobar escaping from prison. The publication noted that, in 10 episodes, showrunner Chris Brancato was able to show 15 years of Escobar's life.
In the "Narcos" season 2 release date, the series will only have to cover 18 months of the protagonist's life. Pablo Escobar was gunned down by the Colombian National Police in Dec. 2, 1993.
In a roundtable interview, via /FILM, producer Eric Newman revealed key details for "Narcos" season 2. He admitted that the show has always been intended to have an ending.
"Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show," Newman said. "He will die. The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one."
"At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live," he added. "That's not something we can change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending."
