You know her as Princess Leia while most know her as Carrie Fisher. For her own self, she knows it as pressure.
Carrie Fisher is known for owning the "Princess Leia" role and no one has dared played the character. After coming back to the big screen, on "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," she has taken the reigns again. Maybe the world thinks it's going to be "easy street" for the actress. It's actually the opposite. Carrie Fisher, faces the most pressure she has ever faced in her entire acting career.
Are you an actress and have faced the pressure of a role? This may be different for the actress-veteran. According to CinemaBlend, the "Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey" features revelations and behind the scenes of "Episode VII." But what's interesting to note, aside from the excitement the seventh installment has roared around the world, is the fact that Fisher faced the level of pressure she had to endure.
It is known for many that acting is not an easy job but reprising a role after 30 years doesn't make it easier. Yahoo quoted Fisher, from the documentary, saying: "I'm the custodian of Princess Leia, so it's my job to kind of protect her. It's my whole life, so I was very nervous. The first day I had was this massive scene. I was scared that I would make mistakes, and I made mistakes. "It was basically the worst day I ever had on a film set in my life. It ended, and I got to go to sleep and come in another day, and it was better."
You don't usually think about the pressure an actor faces when playing a character for a second time (or fourth in Carrie Fisher's case). But the mounting pop culture expectation has opened the actress up to judgment. She has not also acted during the 30 year down-time which means she could have been rusty. But she faces the challenge head on because only she can play the role.
Take it from Carrie Fisher, if she's able to transition from Princess Leia to General Leia - and still owning the role - you can too.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is available digitally while the Blu-ray edition will be released on Apr. 5, 2016.
