Twitter has been known for sparking private conversations through tweets. The company has now streamlined the process by introducing a new button that allows users to share tweets instantly through direct messages.
Starting today, iOS and Android users will see a new message button within a tweet. When tapped, this will enable them to share a tweet with anyone they're connected with. According to Twitter's blog post by Twitter's Product Manager Somas Thyagaraja, "Starting today, you'll notice something new on tweets, a Message button. With this new feature, it's simple to share a tweet via Direct Message and spark a private conversation."
Thyagaraja explained that users have been demanding a simpler way to share tweets through DM on iOS and Android. With a few easy taps, the new feature has been proven to allow users to tweet from their timeline in a private conversation.
According to The Verge, the previous feature needed a user to tap and hold a tweet for a menu to pop up and then choose "Share via Direct Message," an additional step that many users weren't aware of when carefully reading their tweets.
The latest enhancement isn't really a big update, although Twitter has proven the tendency to improve direct message interaction. In this case, the company has seen a growth of 60% on the number of sent messages since 2015. Which led users to also share their tweets even more that has increased in the second half of 2015 by 200%.
Seemingly, the web doesn't have a version of the new button, although users can still share tweets via direct message through the menu button which is available on the web version of Twitter.
Even though Twitter may not replace the chat service anytime soon, users may still find the update more appealing among all direct messaging.
