In a lighthearted and heartwarming exchange, CNN correspondent Wolf Blitzer mistakenly interviewed a local atheist tornado survivor and asked her, "Do you thank the Lord for that split-second decision?"
Wolf spoke with Rebecca Vitsmun, who held her 19-month-old son in her arms during the interview. The live TV interview detailed her escape from her house with her son right before the tornado tore through it.
After a few moments of playing with the little boy and allowing him to hold his microphone, Wolf nonchalantly concluded with a final question: "Alright, well, you've blessed. Brian, your husband, is blessed. Anders is blessed...We're happy you're here. You guys did a great job. You've gotta thank the Lord, right? Do you thank the Lord for that split-second decision?"
Despite the twister's devastation to her home, the woman continued her good-hearted thoughtfulness during her time on air. The mother of the 19-month-old stopped for a second and responded with a smile, "I'm actually an atheist." After that, they all burst into laughter for the moment.
"You are. All right. But you made the right call," Blitzer replied.
"We are here, and I don't blame anyone for thanking the Lord," Vitsmun concluded the interview politely.
