Netflix has been quiet about it but it has recently rolled out its first 4K HDR content starting with "Marco Polo" season 1. The HDR encoding has been built into the shows. So if you own or are thinking of purchasing a 4K HDR Television, then this Netflix 4K movies and shows is ready to fill your home entertainment with improved quality display through HDR.
What is HDR? HDR means high dynamic range. It's a much better alternative than your ordinary television. HDR allows your screen to display a greater number of colors at a brightness level your average TV can't emit.
Starting August, Netflix will start releasing a wider selection of HDR 4K content, as told by 4k.com. There will be 100 new hours of entertainment which will grow to up to 150 hours by the end of 2016. That's a lot of high quality shows and movies. Yahoo explains that streaming that much data through Netflix is now possible with the much more vibrant and crisp film shots.
With Netflix making sure it's ahead of the pack, they silently tested it out with their Netflix Original series "Marco Polo" season 1. What's the next show to be shown in HDR? Marvel's "Daredevil" will be a much more brighter and colorful (or darker, if you're being technical about the comic) setting.
Other Netflix shows that will be in HDR include "Marvel's Iron Fist," "Marvel's Jessica Jones," "Marvel's Luke Cage," "Marvel's The Defenders," "The Do-Over," "The Ridiculous Six" and many more.
Gone will be the days that your favorite shows will look like it's being shot through a green screen. The movie and live streaming industry will be able to deliver their products in its crisper and proper form.
