Do you know how expensive it is to live in New York? Well, the cost of living has be reduced for 9 lucky tenants on Second Avenue and East 1st Street.
The $10 apartments at Jupiter 21 are breaking the norm of $3,418 a month of rent at the Big Apple.
A newly built 12-story, 65-unit residential building in East Village contained these unheard-of $10 apartments.
BFC Partners, the company behind this $10 apartments special deal, wanted to demolish Mars Bar and reconstruct it into luxurious Jupiter 21 units. They offered the original residents a chance to temporarily move out for a couple of years, then come back and enjoy the luxury apartments at the price of $10.
BFC Partners explained in a heartfelt statement why the residents deserve to receive their apartments at $10 a month: "If it wasn't for the existing residents that were living in a very dilapidated building prior to us constructing Jupiter 21, we would never have a project at this location. We felt we owed it to them to replace their home with a brand new, modern apartment in a building that is being well-received into the community. We hope the existing and new residents thrive in their new environments and enjoy all the amenities that Jupiter 21 has to offer."
Other residents who weren't as lucky to be able to move into the $10 apartments at Jupiter 21 would have to live in apartments that cost between $3,000 to $10,000 a month.
The new residents of the $10 apartments would have the ability to rent them out and earn money through that.
However, the $10 apartments may accompany large maintenance fees, so the apartment may not cost only $10.
