New OS X 10.9 Mavericks: Crazy 'Epic' Features at WWDC -- Finder Tabs, Siri, iCloud KeyChain, Notifications, Maps, iBooks, and More! [VIDEO & REPORT]

Apple WWDC 2013 started off with a demonstration of Anki Drive, an interactive wireless controlled car racing game that can shoot their opponents, and race each other.

As WWDC continued, the M.C. suggested the conundrum of the lack of names to be used for the new Apple Operating System OS X 10.9, "We do not what to be the first software delayed due to a dwindling supply of cats."

"So for our first California themed release, we went just outside our back yard … OS X Mavericks," said Craig Federighi.

The alternate title OS X Sea Lion was previously considered. But it was not utilized, as well as "OS X Liger".

The new Mavericks will include Finder Tabs, which will organize different finder windows into one, so that all the windows are no longer everywhere and it can be easy to navigate, with the title of the tabs all on the tab bar.

Additionally the OS X 10.9 Finder will allow for tags for documents when you save it, and these will appear on the finder sidebar.

Full-screen apps have been out for a while since OS X 10.7, but users have found out how the first-ever introduction of the full-screen application is not very helpful for multiple screen usage. OS X 10.9 Mavericks fixes that for you. Now, multiple screens can have full-screen apps running, and switching among them is as effortless as ever.

Spaces will be able to operate independently on each screen as well. AirPlay-connected HDTVs are now able to be used as a fully-featured display. "Mission Control [for OS X 10.9 Mavericks] has just been supercharged for multiple displays."

For the launch of the new Mavericks Safari, the previously GPU hogging program now use less GPU, less energy, and became faster than its previous versions. The quick launch screen is now equip with a column for the bookmarks. Apple has selected the famo.us site to test OS X 10.9 Safari's power consumption.

Apparently, Apple has claimed that the new Safari in OS X 10.9 Mavericks is 1.44x faster than Chrome in SunSpider.

The 'App Nap' allows OS X 10.9 apps to be suspended automatically without the need to suck down the CPU usage.

With 'Compressed Memory', more memory is freed up so that the CPU will be able to be used for other things. Instead of writing the unused apps into disk, the Mavericks app would just be compressed to create a 1.4x performance improvement over OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

Notifications has been rebuilt in Mavericks, so that all the missed notifications while your laptop goes into sleep mode will be shown before you even unlock your screen. Additionally, you are now able to immediately delete emails from the notification.

With 10.9's new Maps, users can instantly send directions to their iPhones. As users zoom in to the map locations, there is the same flyover effect as with iOS.

The new calendar will support travel times being added to the calendar, and having notifications that sound off when it is time to leave. "Whats' amazing is that even without the stitching the window still sticks to the screen. It doesn't fall off," jokes the Mac OS X 10.9 commentator.

iBooks will also come Mac OS X Mavericks, Mac users can finally access the 1.8 million books available and there is a simple, clean interface that allows for note-taking. The iBooks will also feature interactivity. In the demonstration, E.O. Wilson's 'Life on Earth' had a zoomable cellular structure of a leaf.

"And that is iBooks in Mavericks. Mavericks continues making your digital life follow you easily from device to device."

One interesting bit about 10.9's iBooks is that the red / yellow / green windowing buttons are hidden, perhaps this is an indicator for OS X 11.0's designs.

Mavericks also allow your computer to update apps while it is sleeping. Notifications will show on the locked screen after the update has been completed.

"We now remember your passwords so they're available to you across all your devices. Mavericks is a fantastic release."

Developer preview for OS X 10.9 Mavericks will be available today.
