A bank clerk in Germany made a huge error. He transferred 222,222,222.22 Euros, which is $293 million instead of the 62.40 euros that he was supposed to transfer.
The transferred funds was supposed to come out from a retiree account. The bank clerk instead withdrew the monstrous sum from it.
The $293 million error was reportedly the results of the bank clerk nodding off "for a second," according to CNN.
This error involving millions of dollars would have been caught immediately if the supervisor had been carefully checking through the amounts. However, the bank clerk's supervisor examined more than 800 records under less than 2 seconds.
It is interesting that, however, the bank clerk's supervisor were judged to have been wrongfully fired, as the German courts claimed today.
Reports say that although the $293 million error was a "terrible mistake," it cannot be proven that the bank clerk's supervisor attempted to harm the bank willingly; therefore, she should be reinstated.
