Good news for the viewers of the "Good Wife" as CBS recently affirmed the occurrence of a spinoff series. Also, Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo have been casted to join the roster of other stars as well.
CBS used its upfront Wednesday to announce that it has ordered the follow-up, which centers on Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and newer addition Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo), straight-to-series for a spring 2017 debut and creators Robert and Michelle King are set to co-write the first episode but will not run the CBS Television Studios-produced series, reports Hollywood Reporter.
In addition to Baranski and Jumbo, the new series will introduce new characters and pick up one year after the events of "The Good Wife" finale and the Kings will co-create and exec produce with Phil Alden Robinson as well as Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Brooke Kennedy and Liz Glotzer, according the same report.
"The quality of "The Good Wife" has always rivalled anything on television and we're excited to tell more stories with some of the brilliant characters Robert and Michelle King created," CBS Television Studios president David Stapf said in a statement.
Since the "The Good Wife" series received a go signal, viewers could expect more alterations and improvements on the storyline. Also, the critically acclaimed drama may have aired its final episode on CBS earlier this month, but it will return with brand new episodes starting in spring 2017, Entertainment Tonight added.
It remains uncertain on how the show would progress once it airs but the new storyline and the spin-off series is anticipated to bring about a new era of unpredictable scenes. The affirmation rendered forth by CBS not only heightened awareness but the world is now looking on the role that Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo will impart.
