Calvin Harris (Adam Richard Wiles) figured in a car accident in Los Angeles, cancelling his performances at both the Omnia in Las Vegas (where he spins as a resident DJ) that Friday evening and at the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama the following Saturday while he recovers.
The 32-year old Scot, a multi-awarded DJ, record producer, singer-song writer had been on his way to LAX when a group of teenagers in a red Volkswagen Beetle lost control, crossed over the center line and crashed into the side of his Cadillac SUV up in Coldwater Canyon.
A female passenger who had not worn her seatbelts had been thrown out of the Beetle convertible suffered a broken pelvis while Harris ended up with a laceration to the face. The female was said to recover while Harris was checked out, released and told to rest for a few days.
Harris later called up his girlfriend, 26-year old multi-Grammy award winner Taylor Swift to recount his accident and assure her he was okay. The American popstar was said to have been terribly worried, offering to fly in if he needed her to be with him but Harris told her he was fine and that he was just a bit shaken over the incident.
Harris' representative sent notice over social media about the accident as well as to announce the cancellation of his performances as he had been examined for his injuries and advised to rest for a few days.
The Twitter account of the Hang Out Music Festival also informed of the cancellation due to the accident and wished Harris a speedy recovery. "Panic! at the Disco", who was to perform before Harris, had to be moved up to perform in his absence. They too tweeted before the show wishing everyone who had been involved a speedy recovery and hoping that they'll do Calvin proud.
Social media was flooded by fans from all over with messages of concern and well-wishes for the young artist.
