Three men looted half a million dollars worth of sparkling merchandise off of a shop inside the Borgata Hotel in New Jersey.
The Borgata robbery happened at approximately 8:45pm in the Atlantic City hotel, the night before the 10th anniversary of the luxurious casino vacation spot.
The robbers were of african american descent. One of the three men were wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, another a blue jacket, and the third in a dark colored jacket.
The suspects left the scene first on foot then was carried away by a dark-colored vehicle without a visible license plate.
The Borgata robbery victims were able to make off with the loot due to the surprise and the speed of their execution in this 'smash and grab' attack.
The president of Jewelers' Security Alliance, John J. Kennedy, says, "There seems to be more instances where a large number of males go into the store and smash the case and get out of there in 20 or 30 seconds rather than point a gun at a store owner."
Police reported that weapons were not used in the Borgata robbery.
Reports claim that 20% of the money lost by gamblers are taken by the Borgata casino. This amount is twice the amount of many of its competitors according to the Associated Press.
