Duncan Jones, director of the new film "Warcraft," remembers giving his dad an early preview of the film before the English singer and songwriter's death back in January of this year.
David Bowie, who succumbed to liver cancer, didn't reach the end of production of "Warcraft" but his son made sure that the English music icon got his exclusive early preview, according to Entertainment Weekly.
It proved to be an emotional roller coaster for the director as he went through production while his wife was recovering from breast cancer, and on top of that the death of his father.
Jones told the Daily Beast that he showed an early cut of the film and number of special effects shots to his father. During the interview, he opened about his relationship with his father.
"For everyone else he was one person. For me, he was my dad. And he was always interested in things I was working on," Jones said. The filmmaker also shared that Bowie was always enthusiastic with the things the director was working on.
Jones also stated that Bowie was happy for that the director is doing the things he enjoyed in life.
While promoting his new film, Jones was seen wearing a torc and he said that it was given to him by Bowie, back when Jones was a teenager. He said that his was genuine and it's about a thousand years old. The ancient Celts were known to use torcs as offerings to the gods.
Jones and Rodene Ronquillo, whom of which was diagnosed with cancer back in 2012, are expecting their first child this June, which also the month that "Warcraft" will be released worldwide.
The director told E! News that he, together with his wife, revealed to Bowie the gender of the baby back when the family got together in December.
"Warcraft" will premiere worldwide in June after a decade since it was first announced.
