After the success of "Finding Nemo" thirteen years ago, "Finding Dory" became a hit as well. Now, there are talks that "Finding Nemo 3" might just become a possibility as Dory's story can totally lead to a third movie.
It took thirteen years in the making, but when "Finding Dory" hit theaters, everyone loved it. There are tons of moral stories integrated in the film and it is an enjoyable movie to watch with the kids. Which is why mostly, the adults are the ones enjoying the movie because they waited thirteen years for it to happen. Will they need to wait another thirteen years for a third movie?
It depends on the executives from Disney Pixar. It is not always a guarantee that there will be a sequel, or even a third movie in any Disney Pixar films but Teen Vogue has it that it could just happen.
According to director Andrew Stanton, "Finding Dory" was "... The missing piece, emotionally, for the first movie," he told EW.
"We strive to try and make it seem like it was inevitable, like it was meant to be, that all these extended stories and journeys with these characters were part of the whole canon," he further explained. That may be the reason why it took them more than a decade to make.
Andrew explained that Dory's latest story has opened up possible storyline progressions. "There are a lot of new characters that get introduced and we've broadened the universe for this movie. I've learned to just say, to my knowledge, I think everything that was born of the first movie is wrapped up. But we'll see," teased Stanton.
So there is a potential for the story to continue and become "Finding Nemo 3." Maybe it will be Marlin who needs to be found this time?
"Finding Dory" is still in theaters, nationwide.
