A new "Star Wars: Rogue One" trailer will be released this week. It is believed that Darth Vader will make an appearance in the video.
The highly-anticipated look at Darth Vader in the "Star Wars: Rogue One" trailer will be aired on Jul. 15. It will come with the hour-long "Secret of the Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey" special on ABC.
Movie Pilot reported that "Star Wars: Rogue One" will see the return of Darth Vader for the first time since "Return of the Jedi" and a brief appearance in "Revenge of the Sith." It is highly likely that fans will get to see Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming trailer.
In another report, Movie Pilot noted that the film will have an even darker tone. Moreover, although Darth Vader's role in "Star Wars: Rogue One" is said to be just a cameo, his appearance is expected to have a major impact on the movie's story.
"He will be in the movie sparingly," Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told EW about Darth Vader's appearance in "Star Wars: Rogue One." "But at a key, strategic moment, he's going to loom large."
Director Gareth Edwards shared his thoughts on the Sith Lord's role in the film. It was revealed that the Rebels are not quite familiar with the villain, who has become more of a legend.
"Within the Rebellion, it's not commonly spoken about," Edwards said. "Within the Empire, there is the culture of knowing of the existence of Darth Vader. There's definitely an underlying feeling that there is a power - a dark power - available to the Empire and that if you overstep your mark, you will suffer the consequences."
According to Parent Herald, Ben Mendelsohn's evil character in "Star Wars: Rogue One" is believed to be under the control of Darth Vader. There were speculations that the actor will be portraying Grand Moff Tarkin but it was recently confirmed that he will take on the role of Director Orson Krennic.
The "Star Wars: Rogue One" release date is slated for Dec. 14, 2016.
